MEI Origin Story
MelodiousOne Educational Institute (MEI) was founded with a bold vision: to reimagine education through the lens of creativity, culture, and community. Rooted in the belief that every child is inherently gifted, MEI cultivates academic excellence and artistic brilliance through an immersive, arts-integrated learning model.
Our story began with Founder SheaAaron Burns, an accomplished educator, musician, and visionary leader whose personal journey reflects the very values MEI stands for—resilience, passion, and purpose. Overcoming early learning challenges through the transformative power of music and community support, Ms. Burns developed MEI to be the kind of school she needed as a child—one that nurtures the whole student.
At MEI, we believe students learn best when they are fully engaged—mind, body, and spirit.
That’s why our Active Immersion Model (AIM) blends rigorous academics with daily instruction in music, dance, drama, visual arts, and creative writing. Students are not just taught—they are inspired, challenged, and empowered to take ownership of their learning.

Our Governing Board
Current governing board members were identified and selected over a period of four years by their dedication to the artistic and academic achievement of students, professional background, and service to their communities. Due diligence completed included consulting with previous charter school petitioners regarding appropriate selection of members, background checks and network profiling.
